Bossa Boogie goes CHICK HABIT
Bossa Boogie is handing over the keys to Pakhuis Wilhelmina over to Guuzbourg (aka Aguuzto, we're keeping it in the family y'all), Natashka and superstar-dj Martin Hemmel for a party featuring only the beat-ifullest music!
Saturday, November 24 is the date, Chick Habit's the name of the party. It is named after the English translation April March made of France Gall's classic Laisse Tomber Les Filles (you heard April sing it in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof). We use it for a party jam-packed with soul, funk, sixties girlpop, rock 'n roll and even some dashes of pyschedelica - all with a French twist, ofcourse.
Furthermore, this party's also the Official Presentation of Guuzbourg's compilation of French girl singers, called Filles Fragiles! Can you say: Oh-La-La? You should, because Filles Fragiles-band PEPPERMOON is going to play! So be on time, you do NOT want to miss the sight of lovely Iris!
Speaking of lovely girls, Natashka (just back from a dj-trip to Montreal!) is the dominatrix of Radio Oh-La-La, purveyor of only the finest French pop from waaaaay back. She knows her way around the wheels of steel as well - her Bastille party last July was a slammin' success. She also played with the Amsterdam Beat Club, so there.
Guuzbourg you know, he's the papa bear of Bossa Boogie, who likes to let out his inner unshaven, chainsmoking Gallic twin every once in a while. He's hot for filles, likes to rave about them here, but also behind the decks. Ofcourse, he'll add some Bossa Boogie-flavours along the way.
Martin Hemmel has been a resident DJ at the internationally renowned club Atomic Cafe in Munich ever since it was founded more than 10 years ago. On the lookout for diversity and novelties, he got caught in the sixties, which still influence today's pop music and have set high standards that are hard to beat. And so he specialised in anything from the sixties, without loosing touch with the current music scene. One can enjoy the result of this passion at any time on his calling card: the three-part French Cuts compilation series. After endlessly searching for vinyl with the right instinct and the experience of countless club nights, he managed to pack an unwritten chapter of European pop history into three entertaining CDs and pushed forward a long-standing international trend. Arte TV (Tracks) reported on him and even the French showed their appreciation by regularly inviting Hemmel to DJ in Paris. A club tour throughout Germany and bookings in Italy, Switzerland and Austria soon followed.
